What's up Farmer Brown? Farmer Browns Rides New Level Suggestions

Welcome to farmerbrown.bappy.com.

I have been playing Farmville for about 9 months now and should reach level 70 in about 13 weeks.  I selected "farmerbrown" for my site title because that's what I call the Avatar.  I say "I'll do this or that while I'm waiting on Farmer Brown to finish up".  I'm planning on putting other stuff besides Farmville here, but that's my starting point.  If you'd like to be my neighbor, drop me an e-mail here.

Update June 7th 2010
Winding down on Farmville...  Can't stand the bugs in this beta anymore - utilizing the "buy and sell hay" strategy to pull down 10-15K XP per day, will be done by June 20th

What I know about Farmville

Here are the "important" (IMO) things you should know about Farmville:

  1. Farmville is a "Beta" program - this means that not everything will work when or as you expect it to.
  2. Farmville is a "Social" program - you can play it by yourself, but if you really want to get anywhere you are going to have to have lots of patience and/or money.  If you are a Social Butterfly,  you can get places real quick
  3. There are 70 levels of Farmville - the first 20 or so levels go by pretty quickly - getting to level 70 takes quite a while.
  4. You get to new levels of Farmville by gaining XP (Experience Points) - plowing and seeding get you XP.  The other ways to get XP are (1) fertilize your neighbors plots (5 or 10 a day) (2) do a "Varmit Task" (rake leaves, chase away foxes or crows, etc (5 points) (3) feed your neighbors chickens (1 point a day) (4) Harvest Mastery Level 3 crops (varies) (5) Collect horsehair (100 XP random bonus) (6) send promotional gifts (20 XP) (7) buy buildings or decorations (2-10000 XP)
  5. Get all of the animals and trees you can - you need coins to buy stuff (Olive trees are the Farmville ATM 120 coins a day)

I don't want $29.95 to tell you how to play a game, and my next (first) book will be about something that is hopefully useful to society.  GIYF if you want to spend money or make the folks at Zynga mad.  With these in mind, here are some ways to help your level along:

  • Send items you want and/or need to your friends;  mystery gifts are nice, but Olive trees put coins in the bank.
  • Visit your friends walls often - it's an easy way to get Fuel, animals, XP and ribbons.
  • Get to level 3 on a crop as quickly as you can.  Once you are at level 3, you get XP for planting AND Harvesting this crop.
  • Get to level 3 on your co-op crops - that way you get 4 bonuses (plow, seed, harvest, completion) for these crops.
  • If you don't have a life, plant blueberries and strawberries and harvest them every 4 hours - that's 12 XP per plot per day (more if you get to level 3 on the crop) - if you had 22x22 rows plantable, you could make over 5800 XP a day (a new level every 2 days).
